Accounting Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Risk Theory creates and manages nationwide insurance programs that incorporate dynamic coverages, features, and flexible underwriting.  Risk Theory prides itself on developing professionally managed businesses that focus on niche classes of business and are intent on maintaining market leading distribution.  Additionally, Risk Theory operates within many aspects of the insurance vertical, including wholesale distribution and claims handling.

As an Accounting Manager, you will play a lead role in managing and developing accounting processes for Risk Theory. This involves spending equal amounts of time between performing day-to-day Accounts Payable processes, coordinating the financial close process, and optimizing new and existing accounting procedures. Applicants must have advanced knowledge of accounting and be able to apply sound accounting practice to complex financial transactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Accounting Systems and junior level associates responsible for day-to-day accounting procedures.
  • Lead Accounts Payable process and ensure timely payment to vendors and other third-parties.
  • Communicate regularly with Customers to resolve any billing inquiries.
  • Identify areas for process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Advise operational staff on the best course of action regarding troubled accounts.
  • Reconcile Income Statement and Balance Sheet accounts during month-end and year-end financial close.
  • Perform Bank Reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Coordinate with business unit leaders and key individuals to develop efficient accounting practices on new business ventures.
  • Coordinate independent financial audits and provide necessary back-up documentation.
  • Analyze cash available for distribution to company ownership.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience providing excellent customer service regarding billing and invoicing.
  • Experience training individuals on new processes and procedures.
  • Experience participating in monthly or annual financial close.
  • Experience booking Revenue and Expense transactions to a General Ledger.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel abilities including pivot tables, advanced functions (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, etc.) and auditing and reconciling multiple datasets.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of accounting principles and be able to apply sound accounting practice to complex transactions.
  • Ability to work closely with others in a team setting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines for deliverables while continuing to perform day-to-day tasks at a high level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Position Overview:

Risk Point is an MGA which is responsible for underwriting franchised and non-franchised dealer open lot insurance. Our Dallas based, national program, is fast paced and growing.  This position will assure a best in class level of claims and loss prevention service by overseeing the activities of the claims third party administrator, assure that claims are handled within the program’s expectations, evaluate loss activity, and provide proactive loss prevention support to the program’s insured dealers.

We are looking for a decisive person who can represent the program professionally, with excellent communication skills and potential to grow with us.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality customer service and ensure timely coverage analysis and communication with insured(s) and carrier.
  • Directly handle assigned auto first and third party claims of entry to mid-level complexity (Collision, Comp, Cargo, Auto Property Damage, PIP, Med Pay, Bodily Injury, UM/Underinsured Motorist).
  • Proactively investigate each claim with expedited and appropriate contact with relevant parties such as insureds, carrier, claimants, law enforcement agencies, witnesses, agents,  medical providers and experts to determine the extent of liability, damages, and negligence apportionment. Interview and take statements to support the investigation.
  • Identify, select, and direct appropriate internal and/or external resources for specific activities required to effectively evaluate claims, such as appraisers, subrogation, counsel,  and experts.
  • Verify the nature and extent of injury or damage by obtaining and reviewing appropriate records and damages documentation.
  • Maintain and document claim file activities in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Utilize diary management system to ensure all claims are handled timely. At required   time intervals, evaluate liability & damages exposure.
  • Establish and maintain proper indemnity & expense reserves.
  • Develop and employ creative resolution strategies.
  • Promptly negotiate proper disposition of claims with insureds and claimants or their  legal representative.
  • Appropriately manage expenses for cost-effective resolution.
  • Update appropriate parties as needed, providing new facts as they become available, and their impact upon the liability analysis and settlement options.
  • Appropriately handle information that is considered personal and confidential.
  • Fulfill specific service commitments with the carrier and always operate within            specified authority.
  • Actively provide mentoring and coaching to less experienced claim professionals to  increase technical expertise.
  • Share accountability with business partners to achieve and sustain quality results.
  • Evaluate all claims for recovery potential; directly handle recovery efforts and/or engage and direct resources for recovery efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Degree or GED required with a minimum of 2 years claim handling  experience.
  • Experience utilizing computer technology, such as Microsoft Office, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software. Ability to accurately compute a variety of numerical calculations required.
  • Licensing Required: In order to perform the essential job functions of this job, acquisition and maintenance of Insurance License(s) is required to comply with provincial and  Company requirements.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • University/College degree or equivalent in business experience preferred.

This is a client-facing position and with competencies and advanced knowledge of benefits insurance services, HR administrative functions and plan design. Emphasis on proactive client service and main liaison between the client and carrier/vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Onboard new clients by working with incumbent carriers for takeover information, add account to agency management system and other resources, ensure carrier appointment/licensing paperwork is in place.
  • Communicate and coordinate renewal decisions with current and new carriers, ensure paperwork is completed accurately and timely, lead implementation process with carrier and client.
  • Prepare open enrollment materials, lead open enrollment meetings (in person and virtual), coordinate materials and resources with carriers and account.
  • Respond to account inquiries appropriately and professionally via multiple channels of communication such as phone, email and occasional in-person meetings.
  • Maintain client files including the clear documentation of account detail in agency management system, ensure appropriate and necessary documents are saved, such as polices, attachments, emails, and correspondence.
  • Assist in the small group RFP process, spreadsheet and compare carrier proposals, and provide summary of programs and options that are designed to support clients in making decisions about insurance programs.
  • Remain current on vendor/carrier plans and programs, industry trends and legislation.
  • Consistently follow client service workflows and appropriately engage internal resources and escalate as necessary
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships by collaborating with coworkers and insurance carriers.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical, dental, vision and ancillary benefits is required
  • Microsoft Office suite experience required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • 2 – 4 years in a similar role or Human Resources benefits role; Prior broker experience preferred, experience with self-funded plans is a plus

Primary Duties

  • Carefully evaluate loss control, financial and other underwriting data to determine if a risk is acceptable

Position Overview:

Mobility Claims Group, LLC, a Risk Point company, is an industry claims services leader, providing custom tailored Third-Party Administration (TPA) programs to clients. Our Dallas based, national program is fast paced and growing.  Under moderate supervision, this position typically handles 1st party Damages to Auto Dealer’s Inventory as well as other first party auto damage claims, from the first notice of loss through resolution/settlement and payment process. Provides quality claim handling throughout the claim life cycle while maintaining compliance with internal and external quality standards and state specific regulations.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Directly handle assigned claims.
  • Provide quality customer service and ensure file quality, timely coverage analysis and communication with insured based on application of policy information to facts or allegations of each case.
  • Consult with Manager on use of Claim Coverage Counsel as needed.
  • Directly investigate each claim through prompt contact with appropriate parties such as policyholders, accounts, law enforcement agencies, witnesses, agents, and technical experts to determine the extent of damages, and contribution potential.
  • Interview witnesses, and take necessary statements, as appropriate.

  • Maintain suspense system and follow-up for receipt of policies, endorsements, inspections reports, correspondence, claims, etc. from outside sources
  • Process binders, invoices, and tax filings forwarding the binder and invoice to the agent
  • Monitor accounting (payment, collections, taxes, etc.) anticipating and preventing problems when possible

Are you the right candidate for this role?  We are searching for someone who will be responsible for the investigation, valuation, establishment of reserves, and settlement of first party property claims within a predetermined settlement authority. Ensures that all assigned claims are concluded promptly and accurately within the provisions of the policy contract and in accordance with the damages presented.

 

Essential Functions

  • Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate claims to reach a fair settlement
  • Negotiate settlement of claims with insured while following claim best practices and within authorized settlement authority
  • Handle questions on coverage with a reservation of rights letter and/or non-waiver agreement.
  • Maintain a complete and thoroughly detailed claim file ensuring files are accurately detailed and all supporting documents are memorialized
  • Uses proactive communication and persuasive negotiation to ensure a positive customer experience
  • Treat customers in a courteous and professional manner providing timely, thorough, accurate information and assistance
  • Work closely with the field appraisers to ensure accurate and timely damage evaluations.
  • Adjust reserves to accurately reflect the exposure and issue payments timely to the appropriate parties
  • Identify subrogation and/or salvage situations in a timely manner to protect the interests of the Corporation and request documents needed to process salvage
  • Handles all claims within the guidelines of the state’s Fair Claims Practices Acts and other regulations while ensuring timeliness and KPIs are being met
  • Maintain an up-to-date diary
  • Maintain vital licensing and continuing education

 

Competencies and Qualifications

  • The Ideal candidate will be detail oriented and organized, have a sense of urgency, be a problem solver, servant leader, and good communicator along with being a team player with demonstrated ability to build rapport, confidence, and trust externally and internally
  • Inside or Outside Commercial Lines claim handling experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an inside or outside claims professional with commercial claims as the primary focus
  • Have a dedicated work from home space free of distractions as this role will allow for some remote work
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Live in the DFW area or relocating to the DFW area (no relocation assistance available)
